Slow & Wild Stitching with Yvonne

Join us on Tuesday 1st & 22nd October from 1:00 - 3:00pm

Slow Stitch is a journey of self discovery and empowerment through textiles.

Yvonne will introduce some mindful ways of well being whilst stitching, alongside the techniques and style of this movement in textiles. Come and learn about the history of slow stitch, its origin in Japanese Boro and Bangladeshi Kantha. Boro grew from necessity in mediaeval Japan, these methods began as working class, accessible, practical techniques, and have evolved over the centuries.

Slow stitch is a practice, a way to find a quiet safe place within the self, to be at home. Using preloved and scrap fabric, learning in community and creating something beautiful.

Beginners are most welcome as well as those with experience of making textiles at any level.

What to Expect:
Simple textile practice and support those who feel the need to slow down through creativity.
It is suitable for those with experience of making textiles, at any level, and adds another reflective dimension to sewing, embroidery/art practice.
It needs very little equipment so is transportable and can be done anywhere.
You will learn techniques to develop a slow stitch practice that will bring you joy, calm and relaxation.

There are lots of examples to inspire you too!
